Charity Appeal Letter Template

A charity appeal letter template is a nonprofit fundraising letter. It is sent by any organization that works for charity to individual donors or prospects. You can either send this appeal letter alone or you can include it with a welcome pamphlet to a charity raising event. Normally a charity appeal letter includes a summary of the issue they should donate for. By giving them the information about why the charity is needed, they will understand the urgency behind the request and hopefully will decide to donate. This letter is a simple way to reach a donor to request them to make a first time gift or renew their annual gift to your organization. The method might seem like an old-fashioned way to ask for charity, but if you write it in an extremely well manner it can be effective.

When can You Send Charity Appeal Letter?

You or your organization can use a charity appeal letter template at any time of the day. However, we know that for everything there is a specific time, when that step is more effective. Therefore, charity appeal letters are more effective towards the end of the year. People tend to be more charitable in November and December. It can lead to your appeal letter having more chances of encouraging them to donate. A charity appeal letter can be sent to any age group, but this type of communication is better if received by an older generation. Because young generation would rather much prefers to receive an email instead.

Tips for Writing a Charity Appeal Letter?

The objective of your charity appeal letter template is to touch the heart of the receiver, not their brain. We all know the decision to give is made in an emotional mood, not a logical one. To write a charity appeal letter that will touch the heart of the donor, follow the tips written below:

Clarify the Purpose: You should not feel hesitant to bring up issues and challenges that will make the donor feel something. There should be emotions felt by your words in the letter. Which will encourage the donor to donate.

Make the Reader Attentive: You should start your letter with a sentence that will grab the attention of the donor. The sentence should be powerful; you can use the word “you” which will make them realize it is something in which they can play a role.

Call to Action: You should tell the donor in the letter, what you want them to do. You can even add an option for a link which will direct them to donate. Sentence like “send in your generous contribution for the helping of the people in need” can be helpful.

Give Them a Deadline: Having a deadline for the donation and letting them know about it will help in getting a response faster from the donor. You should give them a reason to donate as soon as possible.

The point of your letter is to explain to someone why they should donate and how much of a difference their donation will make therefore that is the most important thing you letter should have so it can convince the donor.
